Health/Safety Concerns: According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the most hazardous asbestos fibers cannot be even seen easily. Upon being inhaled, they reside in the lungs. It can lead to lung cancer, mesothelioma (a chest and abdominal linings cancer), and asbestosis (a fatal permanent lung scarring). These diseases don’t have symptoms for years. People with such diseases were found to have extensive exposures to asbestos at work, while some got these diseases from the clothing and equipment exposed to asbestos, brought at home.
