FAQs About Mass Save
Mass Save is a collaborative of Massachusetts’ electric and natural gas utilities and energy efficiency providers, including Berkshire Gas Company, Cape Light Compact, Eversource, Liberty, National Grid, and Unitil.
These sponsors work with the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources to promote energy efficiency services in Massachusetts. Through the program, Massachusetts residents and businesses can receive a no-cost Mass Save Home Energy Assessment, as well as insulation and air sealing incentives, energy-efficient appliance rebates, heat pump rebates, window rebates, and more.
Mass Save is funded by the energy efficiency charges on all customers’ gas and electric bills. You are already paying into the Mass Save program, so why not take advantage of a no-cost home energy assessment and Mass Save rebates?
Massachusetts homeowners, renters, landlords, and businesses who are customers of Berkshire Gas Company, Cape Light Compact, Eversource, Liberty, National Grid, or Unitil can qualify for Mass Save incentives.

- You must be a customer of one of the participating utility companies in the program: Eversource, National Grid, Unitil, Berkshire Gas, Liberty, or Cape Light Compact.
- If a homeowner or renter, you must reside in a 1- to 4-unit property.
- You must complete an initial Home Energy Assessment with an approved contractor like Neeeco.
Additional incentives exist for income-qualified households through the Income-Eligible program and Enhanced Residential program. Income is based on household size and has different tiers.

Mass Save Home Energy Assessments
A Mass Save Home Energy Assessment is an evaluation of your home’s energy efficiency. Your Home Energy Assessment, which must be conducted by a Mass Save contractor like Neeeco, will look for energy-saving opportunities in your home. You’ll receive a report following your Mass Save energy assessment that includes a list of recommended upgrades to help you save energy and money. These upgrades may qualify for rebates and incentives, like 75-100% off insulation upgrades and no-cost air sealing.
It may sound too good to be true, but it really does cost nothing! You won’t need to pay a service fee to receive a no-cost Home Energy Assessment at any point during the assessment or to receive your results.
On your gas and electric bills, a small charge for “energy efficiency” is included. This small charge helps fund the Mass Save program. You do not have to own a home to receive a no-cost Mass Save Home Energy Assessment. Renters can receive an online home energy assessment. You can also encourage your landlord to schedule a commercial energy assessment for the property you live in. An assessment can help you and your landlord discover opportunities for greater energy efficiency and you may also receive energy-saving products at no cost.

Mass Save Rebates & Incentives
Mass Save rebates for 2026 include:
- 75% to 100% off insulation upgrades
- No-cost air sealing
- Heat pump rebates
- Heat pump water heaters ($750 rebate)
- ENERGY STAR Most Efficient Windows ($75 rebate per window)
- High-efficiency appliance rebates
You can receive 75% to 100% off the cost of a home insulation upgrade plus no-cost air sealing with Mass Save insulation rebates. Income-eligible residents can receive no-cost insulation. Schedule a No-Cost Home Energy Assessment today to get started!
You could save $75 per window when you replace single-pane windows with ENERGY STAR Most Efficient windows. Your windows must first be verified with a Home Energy Assessment by an Energy Specialist like Neeeco.
The Mass Save HEAT Loan offers 0% interest financing, up to $25,000, for qualifying energy efficiency improvements, including insulation, heat pumps, and more. HEAT Loans are available to qualifying customers who are participating in the Mass Save initiative.
Air-source heat pump heating and cooling systems are eligible for Mass Save rebates. Income-eligible households can receive up to $16,000. People who are installing a heat pump as their main source of heating and cooling can receive $2,650 per ton, up to $8,500. People who are supplementing other heating and cooling equipment can receive $1,125 per ton, up to $8,500. Heat pump installations are also eligible for 0% interest HEAT Loan financing up to $25,000.
No, most Mass Save incentives and rebates are available to all customers of the participating utilities, regardless of income. Some rebates just provide higher rebate amounts or no-cost upgrades to income-eligible households.
No, the Mass Save Program does not provide rebates for gas, oil, or other fossil fuel-powered heating and cooling equipment.
