Lead Sources in Homes

Lead paint is the primary source of lead in a home built before 1978 when lead was a prohibited ingredient in paints. Contamination happens lead paint faces any drilling, sanding, chipping, or flaking. The solder used in plumbing pipe joints also contains lead. Lead can enter the potable water, especially when water is stationary in the pipes for a specific time. Sometimes, lead contamination may arise from inks used in newspapers and magazines.
