In-Home Installation Measures

The Energy Specialist can install items required for immediate energy savings during the HEA. These items are called Instant Savings Measures (ISMs). One of those is an approved energy-efficient light bulb that is a very cost-effective means to decrease electricity usage. However, the light bulbs should not be left at the home uninstalled. Any exceptions should be communicated well with the Lead Vendor before going away from the customer’s home.

If Home Performance Contractor (HPC) or Lead Vendor (LV) audit staff is left with instant savings measures with customers without installation, the HPC or LV is issued a warning, and a job is termed as a failed inspection. In that case, the company will not be paid an installation fee. The individual energy specialist will be suspended from all program work for 2 weeks for the first offense and 6 months for a second offense
