You can equip your home with safe power strips and save money at the same time.
If you are like many homeowners or small business owners, you probably have plenty of surge protectors in many rooms in your home. There is always an abundance of electronics that need to be plugged in at the same time! However, traditional surge protectors can be a huge drain on electricity, and on your budget.
Luckily, advanced power strips are available now and they also qualify for discounted pricing through the Mass Save energy program.
Advanced power strips keep your electronics from draining excess power when they are plugged in but not being used. Traditional surge protectors and wall outlets still pull power even when appliances are turned off if they are still plugged in! This is known as “phantom load” or “standby power.” Advanced power strips allow for less energy use without the ability of the device to be compromised during idle and active times.
Advanced power strips come in two tiers, both of which have special switches that can keep certain appliances “always on”, such as Internet modems, cable boxes, and other electronics that you want to have constant power.
